Essay

The Thesis deals with the issue of forming socio-cultural competence to high school students, while teaching them reading at the lessons of country study. Culture approach to teaching foreign languages and cultures at high school provides close interaction between language and culture of speakers, implemented in education process of schools through a variable part of the training content, such as elective course "Country Study". Theoretical backgrounds have been used to create a subsystem of exercises for forming socio-cultural competence to high school students, while teaching them reading at the lessons of country study. The model of learning organization has been developed. The effectiveness of the developed methodology has been proved by the experimental teaching. Based on the results of the theoretical study and experimental teaching, the methodological recommendations for forming socio-cultural competence to high school students, while teaching them reading at the lessons of country study have been elaborated.
