The thesis is devoted to the study of the European models of restorative justice. The experience of forming an alternative mechanism for resolving criminal disputes in certain European countries has been studied, in particular, the activity of mediation services has been evaluated, as well as the cooperation of professional mediators with representatives of criminal justice authorities. The research considers approaches to understanding the essence of restorative justice. The forms of restorative justice, their features, place and importance in the criminal process of the countries where they are applied are determined.
