grammatical competence of the future Ukrainian language and literature teachers on the basis of the text based approach. In this work the development tendencies of grammar teaching methods in educational institutions have been researched; the psychological and pedagogical bases of the formation of the grammatical competence of the future Ukrainian language and literature teachers on the basis of the text based approach have been substantiated; the content of the concepts "grammatical competence of the future teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature", "text based approach to grammar teaching of future Ukrainian language and literature teachers" have been specified; the system of exercises and tasks for the formation of the grammatical competence of future Ukrainian language and literature teachers on the basis of the text based approach have been proposed; the criteria, indicators and levels of formation of the grammatical competence of the future Ukrainian language and literature teachers have been determined; the methodology of grammatical competence formation of the future Ukrainian language and literature teachers on the basis of the text based approach has been developed. "Grammatical Competence of the Future Teacher of the Ukrainian Language and Literature" is interpreted as an integrated ability to create meaningful and consistent statements, including system knowledge of the morphological and syntactic levels of a language; mastery of grammatical concepts, as well as means of expressing grammatical categories; skills and abilities to adequately use the grammatical means in speech activity in various communicational situations in order to solve speech and mental problems; communicative experience of correct and expedient use of grammatical units in oral and written speech; understanding a role of grammar in professional and personal development. The methodology of forming the grammatical competence of the future Ukrainian language and literature teachers is based on the implementation of the text based approach as a methodological benchmark for teaching grammar of the Ukrainian language, taking into account the cognitive, communicative and linguodidactic potential of educational texts, as well as the application of optimal teaching methods in order to generalize, systematize the knowledge of the future Ukrainian language and literature teachers, improvement of their communicatively meaningful skills, formation of a grammatical competence. The results of the experiment have confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method of the formation of the grammatical competence of the future Ukrainian language and literature teachers on the basis of the text based approach.
