Essay

In the work the content on the notions “communicative act”, “speech act”, “communication”, “competency”, “competence” is established and the substantive content of the terms “communicative competence of a future journalist”, “Linguoculturology”, “linguocultural competence of a future journalist” is specified. The communicative competence of a future journalist is construed as an intrinsic resource potential, an acquired system of knowledge required for efficient communication and situational adaptivity; an array of professionally significant skills essential for prompt and adequate perception of other people’s programs of speech behaviour and the mobile construction of one’s own communicative strategies relevant to the aims, scopes, genres and situations of communication; and the convening readiness for communicative activities, proficiency in verbal and non-verbal tools of social behaviour. Psychological factors for forming the communicative competence of the future specialists are specified and the linguodidactic foundations for forming the communicative competence of future journalists on the basis of Linguoculturology are substantiated. Methodological-and-training materials and resources for forming the communicative competence of future journalists are analyzed and the linguodidactic prerequisites for forming the communicative competence of future journalists on the basis of Linguoculturology are defined: the development of the students’ monologic and dialogic speech; the improvement of the communicative characteristics of the future journalists’ speech; the formation of the students’ speech creativity; the rhetorization of the educational process; and the introduction of linguocultural exercises and tasks. The criteria (motivation-and-value, normative, thesaurus, genre) and the indicators are elaborated and the levels of formation (high, satisfactory, average and elementary) of the future journalists’ communicative competence are determined. The content, the aim and purposes of the experimental and research work are established; the program is elaborated; the procedure and results of the formative and control stages of the pedagogical experiment are defined and analyzed; and the efficiency of the elaborated methodology for forming the communicative competence of future journalists on the basis of Linguoculturology is proved. The programme of the experimental teaching and training is based on the substantiated scientific provision that the formation of the the communicative competence of future journalists on the basis of Linguoculturology is an interrelated and interconnected process of training, development and education of future journalists, which presupposes the development of future journalists by means of the Ukrainian language and the formation of the national identity of their speech, inasmuch as the students acquire the nationally oriented speech units and master the skills of their active usage in one’s own speech in conformity with the respective communicative situation. The Ukrainian language is deemed to be the instrument of the patriotic education and the civic stand of future journalists and the formation of their patriotic feelings. By means of Linguoculturology the linguistic view of the world, moral and aesthetic values and individual features of the Ukrainian citizens’ character are formed. The scope of work considering the linguocultural foundations should involve gradual acquisition of information on the Ukrainian culture and national values through working on linguocultural texts characterized by various types and styles of speech; indentifying the semantics and evaluative characteristics of the nationally-oriented speech units thereof; defining their stylistic marker; learning the information on the speech etiquette of the Ukrainians; the purposeful introducing of nationally-oriented units in speech. The experimental teaching confirmed the effectiveness of the suggested methodology for forming communicative journalists on the basis of Linguoculturology. Key words: communicative act, speech act, communication, competency, competence, communicative competence of a future journalist, Linguoculturology, linguocultural competence of a future journalist.
