Grabovska O. Hand-molded bricks as a monument of history and culture (by the example of Vinnitsia XVI – middle XX century).

The dissertation is the first comprehensive study of brick as a museum specimen. The paper presents the results of scientific processing of the bricks collection from the holdings of the Vinnytsia Regional Museum of History and Nature. On the basis of a wide range of sources in the dissertation the history of production of bricks in Vinnitsa is investigated. The relationship between the history of brick production and the history of the city is established in the work. Particular attention is paid to the peculiarities of museumification and the museum presentation of the old brick. In the dissertation the world experience of work of museums of bricks and brick manufacture is investigated. On its basis, approaches to the use of brick collections in museum practice are determined.
