The dissertation is devoted to the actual scientific problem of the discovery, study, preservation and protection of monuments and memorable places of the Zaporozhye Cossacks of the Nikopol region as objects of cultural heritage. The object of study is the cultural heritage of the Nikopol region of the XVI - XVIII centuries. The subjects of the study are objects of cultural heritage of the Cossacks of the Cossacks of the Nikopol region as monuments of the history of Ukraine of the XVI-XVIII centuries. The purpose of the study is a comprehensive study of the history of cultural heritage monuments of the Cossacks in the Nikopol region; measures of state authorities and local self-government on their conservation and use. In view of the purpose of the study, the following specific tasks were set: Disclosure of the state of scientific development of the topic and its source base; Review of legal documents concerning the keeping on the state account and protection of monuments of the Zaporozhye Cossacks in the territory of Nikopol region; Identification of the specific perpetuation and preservation of the history of Zaporozhye Cossacks and Zaporozhye Sich in the immovable and moving monuments from the last quarter of the eighteenth century. to the beginning of the XXI century; Generalization and systematization of documentary data on the available monuments on the perpetuation of the Zaporozhye Cossacks in the settlements of Nikopol; Establishment of the basic directions of research of monuments and memorial places of the Cossack Cossacks in the territory of the Nikopol region in scientific institutions, state conservation institutions, public organizations of Ukraine, and beyond; Showing the main forms of perpetuation of the history of Zaporozhye Cossacks and Zaporozhye Sich on the territory of the city of Nikopol, Pokrov, Marhanets, villages of Nikopol district; Identification of monuments and sites in the territory of the Nikopol region that are proposed to be registered and protected; Development of proposals for museums, use of monuments and sites of Zaporozhye Cossacks, in particular Zaporizhzhya Sich, in the cultural life of Ukrainian society, in domestic and international historical tourism. Complex research on the chronological and territorial localization of Tomakivka, Bazavlutska, Mykytynska, Chortomolytska and Nowa Zaporozhian Sichs and other monuments of the Zaporozhye Cossacks in the Bazavlutsk-Tomakivsk interfluve, etc., has been carried out; the reasons for Sichs’ occurrence in this region and the main stages of their development under the influence of external and internal factors have been found out. On the basis of working out a wide range of sources, some of which are introduced for the first time, as well as scientific publications, their systematization and localization on a cartographic basis have been carried out. As a result of M. Zhukovskyi’s own scientific work, including archaeological milling and excavations, the degrees of preservation of the placement and the remains of the fortification of the above-mentioned five Zaporozhian Sichs, other monuments of the Zaporozhye Cossacks, including monuments of history and culture of national importance "The grave of I.D. Sirko"and others as objects of cultural heritage have been established.
