Essay

The dissertation aims at advancing constructive and landscape foundations of research into recreational centers and geoecotons, their diversity, boundaries, typology, and classification. Recreational center is an anthropogenic structure that develops under the influence of recreational activities of people in appropriate natural conditions. Geoecotons are complex spatial-temporal unities that are formed by recreational and other landscape structures. Natural and anthropogenic factors that influence the development and functioning of the recreational centers and geoecotons have been analyzed in details, as well as the indicator processes and phenomena occurring within them. Four types of most frequently occurring recreational centers are identified: stable, decreasing, increasing, and pulsing. The process of recreational geoecoton formations is explored and the variety of borders of these recreational structures is examined.
