Essay

The thesis is devoted to revealing the specifics of the composerʼs thinking in the music of the last third of the 20th – the beginning of the 21st centuries. The concept of “thinking” is studied from the viewpoint of philosophy, psychology, and musicology. In the course of the philosophical and ontological study of the concept of “thinking”, it has been noted that the products of the musicianʼs intellectual activity must correspond to the value categories. The typology of the composerʼs thinking has been tested on the material of the selected compositions by G. Ustvolskaya (Sonata №6 for the piano, Symphony №4), H. Lachenmann (“Guero” for piano), and V. Muzhchil (the choral performance “Perpetuum mobile”. In the works by G. Ustvolskaya it was revealed how the sound structures function in the musical text, and how they affect the dramaturgy, the composition, the principles of thinking, the individualization of the musical language/speech.
