Essay

Research results of distribution, pathogenesis, diagnostics, and treatment of melophagosis of sheep in the territory of Poltava and Zaporizhzhya regions. Indicators dependence of prevalence and intensity of invasion on the age of sheep, on the season and the capacity of farms with melophagosis was studied. The indicators of invasiveness of sheep by melophagos in associate invasions were determined and their main congeners were determined too. New data on morphological and morphometric features of Melophagus ovinus were obtained. It is determined that the differential morphological features of the imaginal forms of Melophagus ovinus are the form, location and size of complex eyes, antennas, oral apparatus, as well as metric parameters of larvae and imaginal forms of bloodsuckers. An improved method of differential diagnosis of Melophagus ovinus males and females, which provides high efficiency in the differentiation of sex of insects, is proposed. New data on some aspects of the pathogenesis of sheep's melofagosis were obtained with considering the indicators of the intensity of the invasion, particularly: clinical course, hematological parameters, influence of invasion on the growth and development of young sheep. For the first time in Ukraine, the effectiveness of modern medicines of various chemical groups by different methods and the multiplicity of their use in sheep's melofagosis were studied. High efficacy (extensive efficiency and intensive efficiency of 100.0 %) of the domestic prepared «Brovermectin 1 %» were established for its double administration to sheep with melophagous.
