The object of the research is the concept of PATRIOTISM in the newspaper discourse of Ukraine of the XXI century. The purpose of the research is to conduct a comprehensive study of explication of the concept of PATRIOTISM, to identify its content and structure, and to further analyze the cognitive content in the language of the Ukrainian print media. With this in mind, we consider it appropriate to trace the dynamics of the development of this concept by modeling its actual and historical layers. Methods of the research: general scientific - induction, deduction, analysis and synthesis - to clarify the theoretical foundations and to draw the conclusions of this research; linguistic: conceptual analysis, lexicographic analysis of the corpus data, etymological analysis, componential analysis, method of field modeling. The scientific novelty of the thesis lies in a comprehensive description of the concept of PATRIOTISM in the context of cognitive linguistics, which has for the first time been presented in the unity of its conceptual, figurative and value components; metaphorical models of its conceptual components have been built; the main cognitive content of the concept has been revealed in the language of print mass media of Ukraine of the XXI century. Practical significance: the main findings and conclusions of the research can be used in the training of specialists in cognitive semantics, linguistic and cultural studies, at lectures, practical courses and special courses, special seminars on diachronic and cognitive semantics, etc. The provisions of the thesis are highlighted in 19 publications; 7 articles have been published in Ukrainian professional editions and 2 in foreign editions.
