The dissertation is devoted to the study of peculiarities of criminal liability for viola-tion the rules of handling weapons, as well as with substances and things which are pre-sent an increased danger to the environment (art. 414 of The Criminal Code of Ukraine). The author has analyzed the historical aspects of the emergence of criminal liability for a crime under art. 414 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and also studied foreign ex-perience on this question, in particular, the criminal legislation of such countries as Great Britain, Estonia, the USA, France, Germany, Poland, Belorussia and others which content such norms. Also the author has analyzed the corpus delicti of a crime under art. 414 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, revealed its main concepts, proposed the criminal-law de-scription of its objective and subjective features and also the ways of improve art. 414 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in particular, introducing some changes in its disposition and foreseeing the note of this article. The author has identified the features and criteria for delineation of the crime, pro-vided by art. 414 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, from other crimes as well as from mili-tary disciplinary and administrative misdemeanors. The author has considered the sanc-tions contained in the art. 414 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
