Essay

Object – the sentences with nominal forms of predicates in the modern Ukrainian language; goal – to analyze, systematize and describe the semantic types of the nominal form of the predicate in the modern Ukrainian language, as well as to clarify the specifics of its explication; methods – the descriptive one (when analyzing the linguistic means of predicates semantic types expression and identifying their subtypes), the intentionally-contextual method (for identifying extra-linguistic cognitive factors of communication in the semantics of the analyzed predicates), the logical-semantic method (to clarify the relationship between objects of reality and entities that represent), the syntactic and synonymy method (for comparison of parallel means of the equivalent or similar content of the utterance presentation), the method of transformational analysis (to establish the syntactic structure and create semantic classification of the predicates of the nominative form), the method of quantitative analysis (to identify the productivity / unproductiveness of certain semantic types / subtypes of the nominal forms of predicates), the elements of the component analysis (to establish the dominant semantic features of the nominal forms of predicates); novelty – for the first time the detailed analysis of the structural and semantic types of the nominal forms of the predicate was carried out, which allowed to identify new semantic types, subtypes of the analyzed units and describe the means of their expression in the modern Ukrainian language. The presented approach significantly expands the view on the structure of complete two-part sentences. The theoretical conclusions of the work will contribute to the deepening of the syntactic theory of the main parts of the sentence and can be used in the analysis of many topical issues of the syntax of the modern Ukrainian language; the results of the research can be used in teaching lecture courses on syntax, comparative typology of Slavic languages, on special seminars, special courses on semantic syntax and in research work of students, undergraduates, and graduate students. The collected material can be used in the preparation of textbooks on the syntax of the modern Ukrainian language; branch – linguistics.
