Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of the specifics of reflection manifestations in the vocal creativity (in composing and performing). The author's reflection is defined as an image of a person who reflects on himself/herself and the world, revealing more brightly universal human painful problems and solving them in the plane of the musical creativity. The linguistic specificity of vocal reflection in various genre-style contexts is studied. Significant artists from Russian and Ukrainian musical culture of the 19th and 20th centuries were chosen as the material (M. Lysenko, D. Shostakovich, B. Lyatoshynsky, and G. Svyrydov). Among the prerequisites and factors of the historical genesis of vocal reflection is the correlation between the types of vocal intonation, the role of the recitative as a part of the opera style of J. Verdi; a monologue as a genre of the author's word; national forms of the synthesis of the word and sound image (Russian elegy, Ukrainian solo-singing). Separately there stands a problem of performing reflection as a sphere of the composer and singer’s common creation. The creative role of the interpreter in the process of reproduction of the reflexive style in vocal creativity has been proved by the examples of the performance versions by Dmitry Hvorostovsky, as the first performer of the compositions by Shostakovich and Svyrydov.
