Serhiiuk I. Architecture of military garrisons of Volyn province in XX – at the beginning of XX century (formation, evolution, principles of rehabilitation)

The dissertation examines the socio-political preconditions for the construction of military garrisons in the Volyn region within the Russian Empire and the state of research of the architecture of the garrison complexes of the 19th and early 20th centuries was determined. Town-planning aspects of the location of military garrisons in the territory of county cities of Volyn are analyzed; the spatial structure of the complex itself and the features of the regiments are determined. The main planning, volume-spatial, stylistic and architectural-compositional features of buildings of garrisons and their facades, stylistics and the character of external decor are found out. The foreign experience in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of military objects was studied, the state of the garrison complexes of the Volyn province of the 19th and early 20th centuries and their historical and cultural significance in the context of the architectural heritage of Volyn and Ukraine in general was explored. The principles and measures aimed at the restoration and conservation of investigated military objects are proposed.
