The topic of the thesis is dedicated to the ongoing problem-scientific substantiation of the content levels and hygienic significance of the pollution of the chlorinated potable water by hazardous volatile chlororganic compounds (THMs) and non- volatile (HAAs) chlororganic compounds on the basis of complex ecological hygienic and biomedical research. The specificities and regularities of the AOX formation on the water supply stations of Dnieper cascade in view of natural and technological factors were determined and the behavior of these substances in water supply network was studied. The comparative hygienic assessment of the reactive capacity of different chlorinated agents concerning the volatile and non-volatile AOX formation was made and the conditions and the main factors, which influence the process of their formation, were determined during the model studies. The influence of isolated and combined action of priority THM (chloroform) and HAAs (monochloroacetic acid) with the potable water on the warm-blooded organism was determined on the basis of the results of chronic sanitary-toxicological study. The probable carcinogenic risk for human health of the real levels of chloroform in the potable water was calculated. The preventive measures for the prevention or minimization of the potable water pollution with AOX were justified.
