The thesis is a comprehensive analysis of the development of the U.S. national security and defense sector after World War II. The U.S. involvement in different military campaigns was studied, as well as its influence on the changes in security sector. The level of studies on national security in general and the development of the US national security sector in particular were analyzed. The impact of World War II on the US national security sector, as well as the significance of the Vietnam War for further transformation processes in the national security sector were examined. Influence of the abolishment of the conscription to the process of reorganization of the US Armed Forces and the consequences of the adoption of the Goldwater-Nichols Act in the context of increasing the effectiveness of the Armed Forces was explained. The impact of the participation of the Armed Forces of the United States in the post-Cold War military actions on the adaptation process was examined.
