Kozoriz O. Organization and the activities of the police on the Western Ukrainian lands as a part of the Republic of Poland (1921–1939)

In the dissertation, legal foundations of the organization and activities of the Polish state police are comprehensively researched on the basis of the legal and regulatory acts, scientific literature and other written sources analysis. Politico-legal preconditions of emergence, for mation and development of the police bodies on the Western Ukrainian lands as a part of the Republic of Poland are elucidated the main periods of their development outlined. The place and role of the police in the public authority system of the Republic of Poland are specified; legal and regulatory framework for their activities – analyzed. The police bodies have been classified, changes in their structural organization revealed as well as police powers ascertained taking into consideration their activities directions. The role of the secret police force in the struggle against national liberation and communist movements on the Western Ukrainian lands is determined. The police powers in detecting, disclosing and investigating crimes under the criminal procedural laws of the Republic of Poland are singled out.
