Essay

The dissertation deals with the topical scientific problem of easel artworks preservation in Ukrainian museums and the historical development of museum conservation. Based on a wide range of sources, some of which being introduced in scientific research for the first time, the state of practical work in museum conservation in the leading Ukrainian art museums has been established. The studies have found out that the improvement of art collections preservation methods and easel artworks stock and exposition storage modernization were sporadic. It has been elucidated that the formation and development of preventive and interventional conservation of art collections is a historically formed phenomenon.
