Essay

Object: Polish singularia tantum nouns that denote human emotional and physical states indictionaries and texts. Objective: to research the semantic peculiarities of the actualization of the multiple forms of singularia tantum nouns that denote human emotional and physical states in modern Polish. Methods: structural; descriptive; componential analysis; structural and semantic analysis; the method of quantitative estimation, oppositional method. Scientific novelty: a complex analysis of the functioning of the multiple forms based on the Polish singularia tantum nouns that denote human emotional and physical states has been performed for the first time: the paper studies the frequency of use of plural forms in the National Corpus of Polish, analyses the specificity of meaning of multiple forms with the identification of innovative uses, and specifies the real grammatical status of the analysed lexemes taking into account their quantitative characteristics against the background of existing lexicographical descriptions. Practical value: the possibility of using the results and conclusions in theoretical and practical university courses, in practical classes in the Polish language as a foreign language. The results of the research can be used to specify the indexation of the semantic status of singularia tantum nouns in dictionaries of the Polish language.
