Essay

Object: Czech political discourse, the quality, properties and specificity of which determine the strategies and tactics of political communication. Objective: analysis of lexical and phraseological features, logical-analytical and emotional-figurative means of political discourse of the end of XX – early XXI century of the presidents of the Czech Republic V. Havel and V. Klaus. Methods: descriptive-analytical, comparative, elements of quantitative analysis, linguistic observation method and generalization. Scientific novelty: for the first time in linguistic Slavic studies, a comprehensive analysis of the political discourse of Czech presidents V. Havel and V. Klaus was performed; defined features of their political lexicon; traced the means and techniques of the political language of the presidents; clarified the role of precedent phenomena in Czech political discourse; established presidential communication strategies in television speeches and debates. Practical value: the collected factual material, theoretical generalizations and the results obtained can be used in the research area for further study of the presidential political discourse in the Czech Republic.
