Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the improvement of the efficiency of prevention of recurrent broncho-obstructive syndrome (BOS) in young children by correcting vitamin D (VD) deficiency on the basis of studying its effect on the clinical course of the disease, biochemical and immunological parameters. The main medical and biological risk factors of the formation of recurrent BOS in young children were determined in the study. It has been shown that children with recurrent BOS have a high frequency of VD deficiency (75%), on its background the risk of developing recurrent episodes of the disease increases by 4.35 times. The low level of VD is associated with the severity of BOS episodes and increased risk of recurrent respiratory infections. It was established that VD supplementation the greatest determines its level in young children with recurrent BOS. It was shown that the level of concentrations of γ-interferon (INF-γ) and interleukin (IL)-4 in serum on the second-third day of the disease does not depend on the frequency of BOS in history, while none of these parameters correlates with the VD level. For the first time it was studied evidence-based usefulness and effectiveness of using vitamin D3 for compensation of VD deficiency in the complex of treatment and prophylaxis recurrent BOS in young children which contributed to a decrease in the frequency of episodes of acute respiratory viral infections (ARTI) and BOS per year, as well as the proportion of patients with severe illness.
