Savelieva T. Social Movements as the Factor of the State Building: Political and Institutional Dimension

Object – the social movements. The objective – the identification of functional potential and the role of social movements as a state-building factor in the political and institutional context. Methods – the neoinstitutional, the comparative, the statistical. The theoretical and practical results – political and institutional conceptualization of social movements as a state-building factor. The novelty – it is proposed the author's variant of the classification of factors of processes of state building in the context of the application of the neo-institutional approach; there are formed a working model of political practices that reproduces the main directions and specifics of the functioning of social movements in the process of Ukrainian state-building; it is clarified arguments regarding the formation and renewal of the political elite; it is specified the statement on the process of making political decisions, according to which the identification and manifestations of support, demands and protests of representatives of various social groups become significant, and position about meaningful of the ambivalence of the activities of modern social movements in the conditions of the development of a network society; the arguments became further developed for understanding state formation as a process and the statement concerning the consideration of social movements in the conditions of the development of the network society as a channel of political mobility in two forms (collective and individual), in two directions (raising and decreasing political status) and in two spaces (real and virtual (Internet space)). The rate of implementation – the development of specific recommendations on the analysis of the impact of socio-political movements on the processes of state-building, in particular, in Ukraine. The scope of application – the power structures; political parties; the public organizations; the analytical and educational activities.
