The dissertation has improved and complemented the theoretical and methodological principles of the study of forest landscapes and substantiated the scheme of constructive-geographical research of forest landscapes of Rivne region. A generalized author's definition of forest landscape concept is proposed. Different approaches to understanding the essence of the forest are analyzed, problems of typology and classification of forest landscapes are studied.
The scale and tendencies of flood alteration of the region for 100 years period have been characterized, as well as the mapping schemes for different time periods have been created. The present state of the forests of the region, their species structure, distribution by age classes and bonitet, wood productivity and fullness of plantations are investigated. The study of the forest species in the Rivne region showed a predominance of coniferous species – 65.8 %.
The study of the age structure of the forests makes it possible to talk about its unevenness, since 13.3% belong to ripe and overgrown forest stands, 21.6 % to young, 45.1% to medieval.
In the study of the productivity of the tree plant, the following indicators, such as bonite, completeness, and stock of wood, have been studied, which made it possible to draw conclusions about the average productivity of the forests of the region. Woods of the Rivne region are marked by high classes of bonitet. The I and II bonitty classes make up more than 34 %. The forest-typological characteristics are carried out and forest landscape lands are allocated. As a result of research on the territory of Rivne region 6 types are characterized by a significant distribution: fresh bors, fresh oak and pine subors, damp oak and pine subors, moist oak and pine subors, moist hornbeam pine groves, wet black-wood suhrudy.
As a result of the construction of a map of forest landscapes of the region, we have identified 25 forest landscape lands in the Polissya region of Rivne, in particular, elevated and lower boundary rivers, fluvioglacial plains, plain and flood plains with predominance of pine, pine-oak, pine-birch, pine-alder, oak, oak-hornbeam forests on turf-podzolic, places of gravel, peat, wetland and gray forest soils.
The economic activity within the forest fund and its ecological and geographical consequences are analyzed. The main directions of the reforestation are analyzed. Regarding the use of forests for cultural and recreational purposes, the area of recreational forests in the Rivne region is 14606.4 hectares. The valuation of the aesthetic value of the Rivne region forests is 2.2 points, which characterizes forests as medieval pine-deciduous forests in relatively open plain territories with forests of more than 36%.
Anthropogenic influence on the forest landscapes of the region is analyzed, the main directions of influence and their consequences are determined. The main one is illegal amber production. The main directions of optimization, ecologization, rational use and protection of forest landscapes of Rivne region are determined and substantiated.
