Kobeissi H. Residential Interior Design in Lebanon: Traditions and Modernity

The thesis systematizes the materials on the development of traditional dwelling in Lebanon, reveals the factors, which determined the features of the organization of the living space and its aesthetic comprehension. The typical engineering, planning, functional and artistic-figurative solutions are specified on the example of preserved monuments. For the first time, the contemporary design practice of Lebanon is analyzed: the features of the formation of the professional community are highlighted, the main approaches and techniques for the organization of the residential interior are defined. As a promising area of further research, the author indicates the study of a general pattern of design development in Lebanon.
