Iemets R. Tracheobronchial tree compression: diagnostics, special aspects of anaesthesia and intensive care in children with congenital heart disease

The object of the dissertation is to improve efficacy of diagnostic, anaesthesia and intensive care for the patients with tracheobronchial tree compressions and congenital heart diseases by means of retrospective analysis of diagnostic procedures, treatment, designing and implementation of diagnostic and treatment algorithms. This study is the first Ukrainian one, that determines special aspects of the treatment, anesthetic supply and intensive care of trachebronchial compressions in patients with congenital heart diseases. During the study there were analyzed the treatment results of 170 subsequent patients, who underwent cardiac surgery in GI « Center of peadiatric cardiology and cardiac surgery » and had complex pathology of tracheobronchial tree compressions and congenital heart diseases. Overall, as the result of the scientific research, there were determined special aspects of this cohort’s treatment and risk factors of their long time of mechanical ventilation and intensive care unit stay. On the basis of this research, diagnostic and intensive care algorithm were established and implemented into practice. Use of these algorithms allowed to improve diagnostics of tracheobronchial tree compressions in children with congenital heart diseases and to decrease mortality in this cohort.
