The scientific thesis is devoted to find solution of actual scientific problem - improvement of results of surgical treatment of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with high operative risk. The solution was obtained by means of clinical introduction selective arterial embolization (SAE) of the prostate. In the study, effectiveness and safety of SAE of the prostate as lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) treatment comparing with monopolar transurethral resection (mTURP) and photoselective vaporization of the prostate (PVP) was evaluated. The analysis was based on systematic evaluation of functional results and complications which occurred in core group (n=33) who underwent SAE, comparison subgroup 1 (n=52) who underwent mTURP and comparison subgroup 2 (n=36) who underwent PVP. Determined, that levels indicators received as a result of application of selective arterial embolization of the prostate objectify recovery of lower urinary tract function similar with those, obtained after mTURP and PVP. Advantages of SAE in surgical treatment of patients with BPH with high operative risk as reliably lower frequency of post-operative complications, its gravity; higher frequency of uncomplicated postoperative course, and the length of post-operation hospital stay were proved
