The dissertation in first examines historical novels by Vasyl Shkliar, which not be as the object for separate scientist studies. In the dissertation elucidates the peculiarities of creatives modeled of historian, examines the dominants of novel’s artistic history from prism of traditions and innovation. The thesis analyzes the poetics of historical novels by Vasyl Shkliar, theirs problematic, ideas-thematic, genres, styles and images specifics. The dissertation defines the features of authors variants of historical novels and accented on the originals of forms, contents, chronotope’s models of texts. The main results of the research are generalized in conclusions. It is note that the novels “Black Raven” and “Marusia” by Vasyl Shkliar – original phenomenon of modern Ukrainian historical prose, which synthesized lasting many years tradition of novel’s genre and represented the modification of genre’s matrix, her revaluation and enrichion. Novels by Vasyl Shkliar characterized synthesis historical and mythological bases, ideas of historical memory and national-liberation fight.
