This dissertation study covers the problem of students' efficiency about mastering the hieroglyph writing with reliance onto the image domain as well as with consideration of the individual peculiarities while mastering a language. The study includes theoretical analysis of the psychological aspects of the problem of mastering the foreign languages, namely the hieroglyph ones. It demonstrates the differences between the phonemic and hieroglyph writings, testifies to the advantages of the reliance onto the students' images domain during their mastering the hieroglyph writing. The study gives the definitions of the visual-semantic image of a hieroglyph sign as a cognitive complex (mental image), which is an integral product of visual sensory-perceptual comprehension (sensual image) of all graphical elements of the formal structure of the hieroglyph, of a holistic view of it (fixed in the figurative memory) and of its conceptual (semantic) display, fixed in its meaning; defines the structure of formation of the visual-semantic images of hieroglyphs and the peculiarities of their operationalization by students. It reveals the role of the cognitive styles and of the students' motivation for achievements during their successful mastering the oriental languages. The study substantiates and presents a program developed to optimize the students' mastering the hieroglyph competences, defines the psychological-didactic conditions required for its implementation during an educational process and proven to be effective experimentally.
