The thesis is devoted to studying individual peculiarities of self-attitude in children aged 5 to7 in the structure of life orientations. The paper identifies main scholarly approaches to the study of the problem of self-attitude, reveals psychological meaning of this concept and its structure. The process of formation of self-attitude in children of senior preschool age is described in connection with their life orientations. The study showed that the majority of senior preschoolers have an average type of manifestation of emotional-value attitude towards themselves; a significant number of children have an inadequate type of manifestation. It has been established that senior preschool children tend to idealize their image, to overestimate their overall self-esteem and not to attach value to specific self-esteem. It has been found out that children with inadequate self-attitude, entering into a new situation, with new rules of cohabitation, accept the behavior of so-called psychological protection: emotionally adapt to the situation, biased it perceive. Such adjustment doesn't lead to overcoming the difficulties and obstacles. Such children lack cognitive activity, responsible motivation and reflection of claims. Senior preschoolers with the optimal self-attitude quickly produce a behavior according to the scheme: the problem - frustration - the act of adaptation - a change in the situation or yourself. The programme of psychological and educational interaction of children with adults and peers, aiming at the development of their self-attitude, was developed and tested. The efficiency of its use in the educational process of preschool educational establishment was demonstrated.
