In the last few years, due to the rapid socio-economic changes and the unstable military-political situation in the country, the percentage of people suffering from depression and anxiety disorders has sharply increased. Anxiety disorders and depression are increasingly diagnosed in adolescent, early and middle-aged young adults. The pursuit of excellence is one of the main driving motives and regulatory principles in the human life and society. The idea about being perfect and the desire to get closer to it form the foundation of a person's social outlook and self-awareness, set a vector of development and points to it's place and role in society. With a problem of clinical perfectionism as the cause of psychopathology, scientists have encountered recently. With the growing demands to the individual as a part of society and increasing the competitive demands of the labor market, a person sets a goal that cannot achieve. Subjective idea about "ideal" is not confirmed by the real set of psychological competences which person has. Comprehensive study of typological features of perfectionism as determinants of affective disorders abused by insufficient empirical fullness of this concept, its functional and dysfunctional components. The lack of diagnostic tools greatly complicates the further study of perfectionism, and especially the ways of its correction and prevention. We have conducted a complex study of perfectionism as an individual-psychological peculiarity of the person. It identifies perfectionism's structure, functional component, sources of origin and its role in the occurrence of affective disorders. We have constructed a psycho diagnostic test for determining the prevailing type of perfectionism: narcissistic, obsessive-compulsive, and functional type. An open typology of perfectionism has been made. The basic psychological qualities that are included in the structure of each of the three types are determined. Personality profiles of the subjects reveal separate components in the structure of transformation as a multifactor phenomenon. A model for the genesis of perfectionism reveals the main sources of its occurrence at various stages of socialization of the individual and connection with affective disorders. Based on the results of the study, recommendations for the diagnosis and correction of dysfunctional forms of perfectionism have been developed.
