The thesis represents the research on the problem of the occurrence of students' mathematical mistakes in the process of studying algebra at the secondary school. The paper defines and elucidates the components of a methodological system of typical students' mistakes prevention as a component of a methodological system of teaching mathematics in general. The structural components of a methodological prevention system of students' mathematical mistakes while studying the content lines: expressions, equations and inequalities and functions have been developed‚ all components of this system are implemented through the organization and realization of a preventive activity. It has been established that the application of a developed methodological system helps to prevent and avoid students' mistakes, and‚ as a result, it increases their academic achievement level and leads to successful gaining of knowledge, the formation of subjective mathematical competence, activating educational and cognitive activity.
