Essay

In the dissertation, for the first time in the Ukrainian art history, the ethnographic heritage of the researcher of Ukrainian culture, the Frenchman by origin, Dominique Pierre De la Flise in the context of contemporary clothing design, has been studied and systematized. The results of the complex study of drawings of De la Flise with the images of Ukrainians in the national clothes of the middle of the XIX century that were not subject to special scientific research in the historical and art aspects are presented; nine original drawings by Dominique De la Flise were published for the first time. The modern identification of 57 cultural and ethnographic centers, which was studied by de la Flise, was conducted; the structural analysis of original archival and published drawings of Ukrainian clothing by Dominique Pierre De la Flise from the angle of view of the search for the variability of the use of artistic and compositional characteristics of the Ukrainian folk costume in the design of modern clothing models is presented.
