Prybluda L. Structure and stylistic functions of secondary nominations in the Ukrainian artistic prose at the beginning of the XXI century.

The thesis deals with the study of lexico-semantic, structural and grammatical features and stylistic functions of secondary nominations in the Ukrainian artistic prose at the beginning of the XXI century. The terms «primary nomination», «renomination», «secondary nomination» are determined in the work. It is defined that the primary nomination is the process of giving the names to objects, phenomena, environmental objects that do not yet have their own language markings. It summarizes the social experience and implements the direct function of naming. The renomination involves repeating lexical units in order to diversify the names of the same object in the certain context. It provides semantic and structural connectivity of the text and updates its lexical inventory. The secondary nomination changes the semantic component of the internal form of the language unit and uses it as an associative-figurative rethinking of language reality and serves as a generalization of language experience. The approaches to the interpretation of the term «secondary nomination» are analyzed. The methods of secondary nomination study are characterized and the means of secondary nomination, in particular metaphors, metonymy and its kind of synecdoche, periphrasis, are considered.
