Symonenko I. Accidence of the adjective in the Eastern Polissia dialect.

In this study, the paradigm of adjective declension in the Eastern Polissia dialect was thoroughly described for the first time. Never-before-described flections, according to the given features, were revealed and studied. An outreach of the differential features of the adjective accidence, as well as a segmentation of the researched dialect were determined. In patois of different dialects the old flections are preserved. They reflect the evolution of the adjective in the Ukrainian language. These phenomena are also recorded within the Eastern Polissia dialect, for example, clipped flections, zero flection, as well as some flections in certain cases. It is noted that the adjective paradigm of rejection is not limited only with adjectives, expressing a direct or indirect relation to an object, belonging to anybody, an attribute of a place among similar objects. It is also commonly used in participles, part of pronouns and numerals. It was mentioned that the greatest variation of flections in the Eastern Polissia dialect belongs to adjectives in nominative plural and in the genitive singular of masculine and neuter genders. The least flections were seen in the adjectives of dative and instrumental cases of singular form of masculine and neuter genders. As well as in the adjectives of nominative and accusative cases in singular form of feminine gender; in the adjectives of genitive, dative and locative cases of plural form. The obtained results indicate a high degree of differentiation of the Eastern Polissia dialect in the sphere of adjective accidence.
