The candidate for the degree draws attention to the fact that the concept of «radiation safety» is a key concept for structuring this research, therefore scientific study and interpretation of its content is given priority in this work. The candidate for the degree has studied history of criminal and other legislation on radiation safety and substantiates his idea that a group of crimes against radiation safety represents, first of all, an integral system of criminal and legal norms on radiation protection of the state and population against unlawful conduct. In this thesis criminal legal characteristics of crimes that violate social relations in radiation safety field are described, their full list is given, and the idea on subsequent enhancement of the criminal legislation of Ukraine, in particular, constitute a group of radiation crimes into an independent section of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: «Crimes against radiation safety», is presented. The research has enabled identifying typical personal social and psychological characteristics of persons having committed crimes against radiation safety. The analysis of results obtained on the essence of causes and conditions of individual criminal conduct in the field of criminal and legal protection of radiation safety has shown: qualities specific for a person committing a crime of this group depend on the impact of the environment, among other, social environment of the potential subject of the crime. The candidate for the degree has proposed the extended approach to prevent crimes against radiation safety by completing the standard construction of prevention subjects due to involvement of private sector of economy (at the level of compliance with requirements, rules and standards) and community (at the level of awareness) in the process. It has been established that the essence of the individual work to prevent crimes against radiation safety requires timely identification of persons who are potentially inclined to commit such actions and application of measures to them intended to prevent such criminal conduct.
