Essay

The work deals with the research of outdoor lighting systems with autonomous power supply for which we used solar cells of KVazar KV 250М type and accumulating systems consisting of supercondensers and Li-ion batteries. The analysis of energy performance of solar cells and accumulating systems consisting of supercondensers was carried out. Real-time measurements of solar radiation flux density considering climatic conditions of western region of Ukraine were taken. Theoretical dependency of daily average of solar energy radiation on monthly cloud amount E(N)was determined. Calculations of solar radiation energy potential for the cities of western regions: Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Ternopil were made. Calculation methodology for solar energy installations applied in city outdoor lighting was proposed. The research presents findings of cost-benefit analysis for solar energy installation applied in outdoor lighting in cities with population of more than million inhabitants, cities (regional centers) with population of about 200-300 thousand people and towns (district centers) with population less than 20 thousand inhabitants.
