Essay

On the basis of materials collected by a special questionnaire (analyzed 73 Middle Dnieper dialects), the structural organization and semantics of the weaving vocabulary have been presented, and its static and dynamic components have been determined, and the characteristic description has been presented. The author has proposed the actual structuring of the investigated fragment of the production vocabulary: the thematic, lexical-semantic fields of the weaver's vocabulary, connected with different stages of this craft have been singled out and analyzed, the proper terms of weaving and substitutes that have got a specialized semantics have been pointed out, and the lexeme status has been grounded. The weaving vocabulary in the Middle Dnieper dialects is represented by common words, phrases, prepositional-case constructions, and propositive structures. The proper terms, substitutes, commonly used names, which have acquired special significance and represent inter-thematic relations, have been confirmed among the one-word names. The using of two-word names, propositive and sentence constructions motivate the speakers’ desire to give a more detailed description of a subject, which name they do not remember now. The most commonly used terms of weaving terminology are expressed by nouns, verbs, and less often by adjectives. The weaving vocabulary is characterized by synonymy (two or three semes can be represented in one lexemes) or polysemy because the biggest part of the names is represented with two or more semes, and that’s why they belong to different semantic groups, lexico-semantic groups, lexico-semantic fields or thematic fields. Also, the word-formation, phonetic, grammatical and accent variation of the representatives have been confirmed. The most commonly used terms of weaving terminology are expressed in nouns, verbs, and less often in adjectives. The peculiarity of the analysed terminology system is its belonging to the passive dictionary of dialectal speakers, because it reflects the deactivation of the weaving craft. In connection with this, the proper terms of weaving and substitutes that have acquired the specialized semantics have been specified in the repertoire of semantic micro-groups, and the terminological status of lexemes has been substantiated. According to the results of the weaving vocabulary mapping, a fragment of the vocabulary of the Middle Dnieper speech in the whole range has been presented for the first time; features of the archaic vocabulary spatial mapping and the main areal tendencies of its distribution have been determined. The 30 maps represent the state of preservation of the weaving ancient terms, the main tendency of the spatial location of the studied vocabulary has been revealed, the format was the centre - the periphery.
