Essay

The dissertation is devoted to negotiations as a way of resolving political conflicts in the modern world. The work focuses on such key factors in the functioning of the negotiations as - personal moment, the role of the "third party" and the consensus and consensus as the outcome of the negotiations. The thesis is the first in the Ukrainian political science complex theoretical and practical research devoted to negotiations. Within the framework of the work, both theoretical aspects of the functioning of the negotiations and the practical moments, embodied in a thorough analysis of them in modern Ukraine, have been taken into account, for example, with the Orange Revolution and the Prosperity Revolution. Accordingly, it has been proved that this or that stage of the negotiation process – preparation, negotiations itself, the results and implementation of the agreements - is essentially the key, and therefore they are interrelated, allowing agreement and obtaining the desired result for both parties. The importance of the participation of a "third party" in the negotiation process is also due to the fact that the intermediary must have the qualities: to be knowledgeable and competent, and therefore must thoroughly analyze the conflict situation and professionally use the skills of mediation, and be impartial - to take a neutral position, not providing support to none of the parties to the conflict. The main aspects of the functioning of the "third party" in the negotiation process are: the expression of proposals for those or other options for the meeting place of the parties; active participation in determining the agenda, forming a working and informal atmosphere; Assist in finding solutions; definition of deadlines for the completion of negotiations; control over the implementation of the agreement reached between the parties to the negotiation process.
