The thesis is the first conceptually integral study of the functional semantic category of insignificance in the latest linguistic Ukrainian studies, which is considered through the prism of the priority of the content parameters and considering the set of ranked functional zones, primary and secondary means of explication. Comprehensive description of the category under consideration provided its analysis in the aspect of anthropocentrism and cognitive-communicative and pragmatic area. In the dissertation paper the grammatical structure of insignificance is determined, which is based, first of all, on its syntactically oriented markers. The morphological palette of explication means of undetermined semantics is characterized. According to the unevenness of its reflection, in particular in view of the decreasing expression of the indicated meaning, is ranked on the center, half center, periphery and absolute periphery. The central sphere includes typical, dominant means of expressing the analyzed categorical semantics that mostly cover its functional varieties, primarily nouns, adjectives, adverbs, numerals, verbs and undefined pronoun words, in which insignificance is clearly represented within the lexical meaning of the word. The status of semi-central is given close to the functional potential of the central linguistic units, representing the transition from insignificance to its undefined-significant expression.
