Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the criminological analysis of grave violent crimes against the life and health of an individual in especially large cities of Ukraine (using the example of Kiev, Kharkov and Odessa) and the development of effective measures to prevent them. To this end, a number of empirical theoretical components have been highlighted, which constituted the methodological framework for the implementation of this study and allowed, first of all, to give a criminological concept of a particularly large city. It is stated that the method of studying serious violent crime against the life and health of individuals in especially large cities is a certain sequence of technological research operations, interconnected by a single goal and objectives of the implementation of specific procedures, which causes the selection of individual research stages. In this case, a kind of matrix for conducting a comparative criminological analysis of various types of crimes in the urbanized environment, such as cities, is a regional approach to understanding the negative phenomenon of crime. This approach allows you to detail criminological knowledge and more fully and accurately identify the territorial characteristics of violent crime against the life and health of the individual, the specifics of its determination, and, as a result, a balanced and differentiated approach to the organization of crime prevention in the practical plane. Based on the analysis of criminological parameters of violent crime against the life and health of a person in especially large cities of Ukraine, its features are highlighted and criminological portraits of Kiev, Kharkov and Odessa are drawn up. In turn, the study of the identity of the perpetrator, whose actions are associated with severe violence against the identity of another person, made it possible to draw a criminological portrait of such offenders. It has been established that the determination of violent crime against the life and health of an individual and its regional characteristics in especially large cities of Ukraine cause certain groups of factors of a different nature, namely: geographic, social, economic, demographic, political, organizational, managerial, cultural and educational. It is emphasized that the strategy of preventing serious violent crime against the life and health of individuals in especially large cities is advisable to cover in any case three major areas under the conventional names: 1) changing the environment of a modern resident of large cities; 2) external control over the behavior of city residents and the quality of their life; 3) operational block of events.
