Konstantinova O. Ecological and economic foundations for using of land-resource potential of protected areas

In the thesis research the essential features and the approaches for the classification of protected areas were clarified and the concept-categorical apparatus concerning the research topic was specified. The theoretical basics of the use of protected areas’ land-resource potential according to the concepts of sustainable development were described. The methodical background for realization of land evaluation of protected areas was substantiated. Environmental, economic and social assessment of the use and activity of protected areas was carried out. The tendencies and the current usage state of land-resource potential of protected areas were investigated. The ecological and economic aspects of improving the use of land-resource potential of protected areas by using geoinformation systems and technologies in the process of functional zoning were determined. The proposals on improving the methodology of normative monetary evaluation of protected areas were formulated. The approaches to determine the financial revenues volume for the lands used for nature protection and other purposes were proposed. The expediency of their transferring to the special accounts of Local Councils was substantiated for the purpose of these territories’ development. The improving ways of the land resource potential management of protected areas were determined.
