Terms “foreign students’ polycultural competence”, “foreign students’ polycultural competence during Ukrainian language training” have been defined. In the thesis structural components of polycultural competence (motive and targeted, cognitive, operative, reflexive) have been described. Fundamental methodology approaches (competence, person-oriented, communicative, cultural, polycultural, operative), principles (didactic, linguodidactic, specific), methods and ways of development of foreign students’ polycultural competence: reading method (prognostication, visual support usage, taking context into consideration, explanation), direct (familiarization with grammar, analogy), conscious and practical (self-semantization, sound and letter analysis, semantic segmentation), conscious and comparative (analysis, comparison, explanation), communicative (modeling, situational aspect, discussion) have been defined. The system of exercises for author’s methodology realization (preliminary, lexical and grammar, speech and communicative) has been developed. It provides with generalization and systematization of linguocultural knowledge of different cultures’ representatives.
