Essay

The thesis is devoted to determining the concept of product quality, its components and characteristics. The tendencies of development of the theory and methodology of normative quality management are revealed. Organizational and economic factors and methodical approaches to ensuring the quality of livestock products are determined. The specificity of the European and national systems of technical regulation in the field of production and exchange of livestock products is shown in the thesis. It does not contribute to guaranteeing the livestock products’ safety and quality. The efficiency of functioning of the control system and supervision over the safety and quality of livestock products in Ukraine is determined. The thesis provides the substantiation of the risk assessment methodology basic provisions in the livestock products and animal products market operators’ activity. These basic provisions are aimed at avoiding corrupt actions of the controlling bodies and their excessive pressure on the market participants. The research reveals the key socioeconomic problems and threats, which are connected with the quality indicators of the main types of livestock products in Ukraine. The research substantiates the conceptual bases of organizational and economic support for raising the quality of livestock products. It also offers the comprehensive measures that relate to the whole system of technical and economic, organizational and economic and socioeconomic relations in the field of quality assurance of livestock products. These measures cover the elements and links of higher-order systems (livestock products market, animal products market, associated markets and fields of agroindustrial complex, various directions of state policy and the system of public administration in general, foreign economic activity). The thesis offers the mechanisms and tools for raising the quality of the main types of livestock products. The tools of direct and indirect support of the production of organic livestock products are substantiated. The three sectoral typology of domestic market of livestock products is offered: the market of traditional, organic and genetically modified products. The groundwork for the methods of stimulating the development of modern biotechnologies is provided in the thesis. The biotechnologies allow the increase of the milk and meat quality under the condition of preservation of the effect of intensification factors. Methodical approaches to forecasting the competitiveness and capacity of the organic livestock products market in Ukraine are developed. The author’s approach to the analysis and forecast of competitiveness of livestock products (based on the traditional, organic and biotechnological sectors) is grounded. The forecast of market capacity of the main types of organic livestock products in Ukraine has been made.
