Essay

A comprehensive pharmacognostic study of the aboveground and underground parts of Portulaca oleracea L. and Portulaca grandiflora Hook. was investigated for the first time. The presence of amino acids, water soluble polysaccharides, pectin substances, hemicelluloses, phenolic compounds, carboxylic acids, volatile compounds, chlorophylls, carotenoids, β-sitosterol, micro- and macroelements in the investigated objects was determined. The acute toxicity and antiradical activity of Portulaca oleracea L. herb tincture were investigated. It was experimentally determined that Portulaca oleracea L. herb infusion had the ability to reduce the formation of insulin resistance and glucose tolerance against the background of the dexamethasone model of diabetes and diet with high fat content, and for hypoglycemic activity was not inferior to the reference drugs – gliclazide and metformin. The projects of Quality Control Technique of Portulaca oleracea L. herb, Portulaca grandiflora Hook. herb and Portulaca oleracea L. herb tincture were developed.
