The dissertation is one of the first in the domestic science of criminal law special complex research on criminal law and comparative aspects of criminal liability for encroachment on the life of a state or public figure. The dissertation examined the historical and legal aspects and the social conditionality of establishing criminal liability for encroachment on the life of a state or public figure. Significant legal signs of encroachment on the life of a state or public figure are identified. A detailed criminal-legal description of the crime of encroachment on the life of a state or public figure has been proposed. Solved the problematic issues of delimitation of encroachment on the life of a state or public figure from related crimes. From the standpoint of criminal law comparativistics, the legislation of some foreign countries on the encroachment on the life of a state or public figure is subjected to a critical analysis with the aim of identifying certain tendencies and possibilities for the mutual use of the best practices of legislative regulation. Given the trends in the development of criminal legislation on encroachment on the life of a state or public figure, specific recommendations on its improvement and practical application in this area have been processed and scientifically substantiated.
