Thesis for Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences degree in specialty 13.00.02 – theory and methods of musical education. – Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko. ‒ Sumy, 2019. The thesis is a comprehensive study of the problem of preparation of bachelors of musical art for the formation of audio culture of schoolchildren by means of orchestral music which is actual in the context of educational reforms and preparation of future musical art teachers for their realization. The essence of the phenomenon of audiality and the concept of “audio culture” have been clarified; the essence of the concept of “readiness of bachelors of musical art for the formation of audio culture of schoolchildren” is revealed and the structure of this professional quality is developed. The concepts of “audio competence” and “pedagogical potential of orchestral music” were introduced. The pedagogical principles are defined: cross-curricular and multimodal bases of perception; evaluation and creation/reproduction of sound-acoustic environment on a harmonic basis; purposeful accentuation of attention on the creative-developmental potential of audio culture; value-selective and corrective attitude to the music repertoire; health-saving audio culture projection; acoustic portraiture and design. The methodological basis is substantiated and the methodology of preparing bachelors of musical art for the formation of students’ audio culture by means of orchestral music is developed. The model of the methodology of preparing bachelors of musical art for the formation of students’ audio culture by means of orchestral music consisting of target, methodological, methodical and resultative units has been developed. The criteria and indicators for evaluating readiness of bachelors of musical arts for the formation of students’ audio culture are determined. The experience-identification component was evaluated by a cognitive criterion with the following indicators: quality of cognitive processes regarding sound-acoustic phenomena and their origin; degree of formation and application of artistic-figurative patterns; the associative-reflexive component was evaluated by a reflexive criterion with the following indicators: measure of reflection of the sound stream, attitude and evaluation from aesthetic positions; sound-figurative associations, their understanding and implementation in the creative-performing and pedagogical process; the audio-motivational component was evaluated by a motivational criterion with the following indicators: intentions to acquire audio competence; degree of expression of interest in the problems of forming students’ audio culture; the technological-productive component was evaluated by the activity criterion with the following indicators: degree of autonomy and initiative in enriching the audio culture in the process of performing and pedagogical activity; degree of orientation in innovative technologies that contribute to realization of the potential of musical art in the context of formation of audio culture. The effectiveness of the methodology of preparing bachelors of musical art for the formation of students’ audio culture by means of orchestral music has been experimentally tested.
