Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of overcoming epistemological contradictions associated with the fragmentation of the existing theoretical explanations of migration and the need to develop new conceptual representations regarding the identification of phenomenal and procedural signs of migration as a complex functional and dysfunctional system of social movements in the global social space. The main attention is paid to the clarification of the needs and perspectives of the development of the conceptual-categorical apparatus of migration research and the implementation of theoretical and methodological substantiation of the epistemological-heuristic potential of the social space theories, which are systematized conceptual explanations of the causes and specific determinants of the processes of moving in the social space of individual and collective social subjects to identify and refine the signs of migration mobility. The possibility and expediency of using theories of social space for theoretical modeling of migration as a social phenomenon is substantiated. The significant epistemological and heuristic potential of these theories, as well as the limitation of their application for migration studies, was revealed. The realization in this study of the methodological strategy of integral theoretical synthesis made possible the explication of paradigmatic differences, which were based on the conceptual arguments of prioritization and the study of structural or procedural characteristics. In particular, the proposed version of the space model for the analysis of migratory movements facilitates the identification of the relationship between migration and social mobility, their dependence on the characteristics of the global social space and the organization of its local systems, the use of theoretical and methodological principles of the social space theories, aimed at identifying and explaining the attributive phenomenal and procedural characteristics of migration mobility.
