Essay

This dissertation is devoted to the study of linguistic expressivity, reflected in syntactic units of language. Expressivity is defined as a complex linguo stylistic category, formed on the basis of the synthesis of mental, social and linguistic factors, which manifests itself as an intensified emphasis of the language and appears in the expressive and representative properties of language, embedded in its lexical, word forming and grammatical means. Structural and compositional, functional and stylistic features and communicative and pragmatic potential of syntactic units – namely unfinished sentences, parceled sentences and sentences with repetition are investigated. These are constructions that make up the linguistic implementation of the sentence-utterance and are formed by the principle of linguistic redundancy or linguistic compression and designed to fully implement the expressive function of language in the text.
