Zatorskyy N. Epistle of Misael to the pope Sixtus IV of 1476: the reconstruction of the archetype.

The monography considers all the existing copies of the first redaction as well as those of two later redactions of the Epistle of Misael. For the first time the Polish translation made by the Metropolitan Hypatius Potij 1605 has been consulted to define more precisely the text of the lost Krewo manuscript and of its first edition of 1605, known only from later reprints. The monography analyzes all the errors and lacunas in the copies and re-dactions of the Epistle of Misael. This allowed us to detect the copies of the epistle, which preceded the existing ones and to depict the genealogy of the copies and redactions of the document, so that related copies and the degree of their kinship has been ascertained. As the result of this examination two lines of the tradition of the charter of Misael has been discerned: the one prevailed in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the other in that of Muscovy.
