Essay

The work deals with studying the effectiveness of the pulse magnetic stimulation in the complex sanatorium and resort treatment in patients with lumbar osteochondrosis complicated by pain syndrome. According to our treatment and rehabilitation complexes, the patients were divided into 3 groups. The control group of patient had a standard treatment (balneo, physiotherapy, exercise therapy and dietary nutrition). The pulse magnetic stimulation methods have been added to the the standard medical complex in patients of the first and the second groups. The first group of patients were affected with the electromagnetic radiation at the lesion area level, the second group patients — at both the lumbar area (the lesion level) and at n. peroneus, n. tibialis (popliteal fossa) projection branching. The pulse magnetic stimulation in combination with standard methods of treatment of osteochondrosis complicated by pain syndrome was proved to be highly effective. The effectiveness of the clinical treatment in the control group was 65%, in the first and second groups 91 and 100% correspondingly. The physiotherapeutic effect under the influence of the pulse magnetic stimulation was to potentiate the biological effects arising in the organism of patients suffering from osteochondrosis with the use of traditional methods of treatment. This concerns a significant improvement of the spinal nerves function, hemodynamic indices of the lower extremities and the functional status of the musculoskeletal system. Positive changes in the psychosomatic state of patients in the groups with the pulse magnetic stimulation usage were by 30–40% better than in the group with traditional methods. It is proved that improvement of metabolic processes in the intervertebral segments of the spine, nerve cells and vessels under the influence of the pulse magnetic stimulation form the basis of sanogenetic mechanisms of restoration of the functional state of the musculoskeletal system, pain syndrome relieve and improvement of the quality of life. At the same time, the patients of the 2nd group had more pronounced (p<0.05) rate of improvement of the neurovascular functional state (wave propagation velocity and amplitude, systolic and diastolic velocity of blood flow) than the patients of the control and first groups. The established pathogenetic similarity of functional changes in the organism under the influence of the pulse magnetic stimulation indicates the etiotropy of these changes and the high efficiency of the application of this technology for the treatment of osteochondrosis.
